I'm Praying for You...

One thing I'm not ashamed to admit is that I am a Christian. I adore getting closer to God and having an intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit. I have always prayed, but it wasn't until a few years ago that I started seeking more knowledge of God by reading the Bible and actually getting in with my walk with Him. It is true that in your darkest times, He brings you closer to Him. I also believe that we have prayer so readily available to us that we take it for granted at times. I have a very good relationship with my mom and my sister, and there are times that things come up in my life and I pick up the phone to get their advice. Now, I don't think anything is wrong with getting sound advice from people who will lift you up and steer you in the right direction, but our intial reaction to trouble should be to pray. Joyce Meyer says, "Go to the throne, not the phone." Welp, I that phase sums up the way I will try to solve my problems from now on. Just this morning, I had to put my cell phone down and pray rather than call my sister about an issue. It's hard to break old habits, but when we are really truthful with ourselves, when we call someone for their advice, most ot the time it's really for them to agree with us and disagree with the person or situation we may have issues with. It's usually more of an ego booster, because if they don't agree with us nine times out of ten we will keep justifying why we said or did this or that. Only God can change situations the heart of a person, so that is who we should cast our cares on. I am also making it an active practice to actually pray for people if I tell them I will. Yeah, i know when you read this it's probably like duh...you should. But if we are all honest, it's become a bit of a cliche' to tell people you will pray for them if you know something isn't going right in their lives. We write comments under their posts saying things like "prayers going up" or "praying for you and your family" and we scroll down to the next post and go on about our business without as much as uttering a prayer. And, if you haven't ever done this, then you deserve a pat on the back. I am doing better, and will continue to strive to do so. So if I ever tell you I'm praying for you. Know that I am. :-) Until next time...
