What I've Learned

As I have gotten older, I have discovered that life can teach me many lessons...if I am willing to pay attention. Here's a list of 34 things I've learned. I only stopped at 34 (I did one per year for my age) but I could have listed a lot more. With 2015 coming to an end, I encourage you to think of your own list, you'd be surprised to see all of the lessons you've learned about yourself and life in general.

Things I've learned 1. No one has it all together 2. Every one isn't for me 3. You can't please everyone no matter how hard you try 4. No matter how nice you are, you can't force someone that's not ready for a relationship into one 5. When someone shows you who they are--believe them the FIRST time 6. I don't have to be the best at everything I do, I just need to do my best when I do anything 7. Failure is not a sign that I should quit, it just means I didn't get it right 8. The best things in life truly can't be bought 9. Being vulnerable seems like something only a weak person would do, but in actuality it takes great strength to be bare in front of others. 10. Feelings change so don't let them lead you 11. Sometimes there's an awkward silence when you tell someone NO 12. Only I determine my mood...letting someone else do it gives them power over me 13. Parenting is one of the most fulfilling roles in life but sometimes it can make you feel like you're doing it all wrong. Especially when you look at others from a distance (Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram) 14. Marriage isn't just about waking up every morning with the one you love it's about doing life with your best friend and carrying out your life purpose(s) together

15. No matter how pretty, rich, or fantastic you are, no one escapes death 16. You can plan a pretty picnic, but you can't predict the weather 17. You can only expect to receive the respect you give yourself 18. You can't pay other people to do your push-ups for you 19. Time waits for no one 20. The saying "sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me" is not true! Sometimes words hurt more than anything else. 21. There is a time to laugh and a time to cry 22. Even as adults, it's okay to act like a kid (sometimes) 23. Everyone says you should live in the moment but it's not that easy to do. 24. No one wants to be talked about, but at some point in time we've all gossiped. 25. Sometimes you have to apologize first, even if you don't think you were wrong. 26. Sometimes it's easier to be negative than it is to be positive. 27. There are some things that look better than they taste. 28. If you can't effectively communicate with someone, then a fulfilling relationship isn't possible. 29. Sometimes silence is an answer too 30. I'm claustrophobic 31. When you text and email tone gets lost--so I don't like to talk about important things in those forms. 32. You feel good when you start something but the reward comes when you've completed the task. 33. You can't be everything to everyone 34. Everyone wants to feel loved and accepted
